Denver outings continued

Our first Day in Denver we drove up a mountain, had a picnic, and got a good lay for the land. That evening, I joined the ladies for a Tea in honor of the bride, Emily. And the guys (Logan included) had dinner.
Friday we took a drive to Boulder to explore more of Colorado. We enjoyed our walking, window shopping and lunch. Even the drive there and back was impressive as we saw the mountains on the left and right... and lots of undeveloped land, something you don't see in Northern Virginia! We ended the night with the family for a dinner mingling with the Drummand/Nichols Families.
Saturday! Wedding Day! and our last day to explore. Today was a day for Logan. We started at a Meet n Greet at the Local Firehouse. It was so well done! The boys got "tattoos", climbed in the trucks and learned all about fire safety. We even won a raffle! Logan had a GREAT Time! The only problem was that my camera died half way through the visit. Our next stop was Heritage Square, a small amusement park an Monster Truck car show. Again, great time!
After a fun-filled day, we headed back for lunch and naps (WHICH NEVER HAPPENED!) and got ready for a fun-filled night, THE WEDDING!

Howdy Folks! Welcome to Golden, CO

Here we are! In Golden, CO for Scott (Steve's brother) and Emily's wedding. Steve has been really looking forward to this trip to show me "Colorado" and its views. Today, we had a free day so Scott took us up an mountain for a picnic lunch. It was beautiful, but I was too focused on the adorable props we brought to the mountains :)

Our great flood of 2011: to be continued...

First came an Earthquake in Viriginia (whaaaaat!), then Hurricaine Irene... and on Thursday we got hit with LEE (Tropical Storm Lee)... and Lee decided to renovate our basement by way of water! Let me tell you the tale....

I started back to work this week and absolutely loved everything about my new job, except the rain. Then on Thursday, my off day, I got to take Logan to his FIRST day of school,..again RAIN, and lots of it! Thursday night I had my GMU class where I had to duck and run to stay dry. In the middle of class, I got a text message from Steve saying that the parking lot he was in was flooded and he was stuck in the grocery store!!! Of course, coming from Steve, I ignored it, thinking he was making it up. Nope. He wasn't. The rain hit so hard and fast that most of Northern Virginia flooded and many road (both side street and highways) were shut down. Some how I made it home and met a friend and her husbands military equipment at my house where I changed into weather proof clothes and a bag filled with new clothes for the boys and steve. The plan: to WALK to the grocery store and save my boys... Oh Yeah, and did i mention steve had both boys with NO diapers, food or change of clothes. Fortunately he was locked in a grocery store and could buy everything he needed. FIVE HOURS LATER, I got to him and the boys (my friend was even able to hop curbs and cut through big puddles and get to them, and get us home.

Now for as excited as we were to get home, we were not happy with what we found!!!! The water from Tropical Storm Lee pounded on our back window and rushed into the basement, filling the entire basement with 2-3 feet of water! The sight was UNBELIEVABLE!

So here I sit, typing from the couch in the living room of our two bedroom hotel room where we have been "living" since yesterday. We were finally able to get the electricity turned off, to get into the basement and drain the water. But with 3 feet of water and no electricity or AC, we had to leave.

Tomorrow, we are fortunate to have several friends coming over to clear out the basement. Once everything is removed, we can get a better look at the damage and make the next few steps to "life after Lee".

Enjoy some views of our new Pool!

Happy First Day of PreSCHOOL!!!

Today was a BIG day for Logan (and Mommy and Daddy too)! It wasn't just that he got to wear his Fireman rain coat, or that Mommy was home from work,... it was his FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!

At the orientation on Tuesday, Logan didn't do so well. He went from class Bully, stealing toys from another kid to class Baby. We had to leave him to go for the parents only part of the orientation and he cried the entire time! This of course didn't make me too excited about starting school, but it didn't stop me from waking up today all bubbly and ready to go!

Fortunately, Logan woke up in the same happy mood. We had breakfast and dressed in a cute outfit. Today has been raining all day, so he got to wear his Fireman rain coat and Backpack that is three times the size of him. Add in a few pictures as we left, and everyone was ready for a great first day!

When we dropped him off, he walked right in and found stuff to do. The teachers said beside a few tears in the beginning, he did great. They were impressed that he could count to 13 (duh,..and he knows his ABCs, the sounds of the letters, colors, shapes and animals.... but they'll learn that soon enough), and also at how well he sang during music time. All in all, he had a great day.. and SO DID I!!!

Twas the night before Preschool sitting on the couch in the house, was daddy and Logan spelling on the iPad,  Swan, Cow and Mouse!

When the morning came, Logan woke to without a care.... he was excited to go to preschool to learn how to share!
